The Tampa Boat Show Invites Women to Get on the Water

Women-only education events to be offered all weekend long

TAMPA, FL, August 7, 2018—Calling all ladies who love the water! For the first time, the 2018 Progressive Insurance Tampa Boat Show will offer two women-only events: ‘Women Making Waves’ On-Water Training Courses from BoatUS, held throughout the weekend, and Ladies Day on Sunday, September 9. Women interested in honing their boating skills, reeling in the big one or simply learning more about the boating lifestyle will enjoy these hands-on and educational events.

Women Make Waves Presented by BoatUS

Want to learn the basics of powerboating or brush up on your skills? The nonprofit BoatUS Foundation along with Tampa’s Freedom Boat Club will lead ‘Women Making Waves’. This intro-to-boating course covers shifting and steering, basic docking, open-water handling and basic navigation.

The Boat US’ Women Make Waves Training will be available to women 21 and older Friday, Sept. 7 and Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. or 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m.– 1:30 p.m. To sign up, please visit http://www.tampaboatshow.com/seminars.

Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing

On Sunday, Sept. 9 ladies, 21 and older, will benefit from a full day of fishing fun and networking with “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing.” Conducted by local captains and anglers, the “Learn to Fish” day offers instruction on fishing strategy and techniques, hands-on skill practice with guides and networking. No equipment or experience is necessary!

Speakers and instructors include Betty Bauman, Founder of “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing;" Capt. Leiza Fitzgerald; Misty Wells; Capt. Jason Preito; Capt. Rachel Nobbe; and others.

The ‘Ladies Day’ ticket is available $60 and includes box lunch, hands-on seminars and a complimentary happy hour sponsored by Freedom Boat Club.
